Lucas works professionally as a Data Analyst handling econometric models and consumer data for the Research and Development department at a company located in Exeter. Previously, he’s received grants from the UMN for his statistical analysis work in dendrochronology as well as from NASA for his work on thermoelectric generators in rockets. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota at 20 years old and then went on to complete his Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University.
Lucas moved from Portsmouth to Dover during his process of settling down and buying his first home. With his intention of staying in place, he began getting involved around his new and welcoming local community. He currently leverages his past energy experience while serving his 3-year term on the City of Dover’s Energy Commission. Witnessing the challenges at the municipal level to obtaining renewable energy independence because of state policies has been a key motivator for Lucas to run for State House Representative.
Lucas is a big Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) enthusiast and contributes where he can. Additionally, he likes to build and tinker with his own electronic devices. He’s a huge privacy advocate and supports the work of non-profit organizations such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation and The Tor Project. In his free time, he enjoys games of all kinds including, but not limited to, board games, card games, video games, and athletic games (i.e. sports). To stay active, he snowboards and plays flag football. He also has a pet bird named Obi.
